Laying the Foundation for Core Space Laser Communication Technology
Since 2004, the XIOPM has been committed to addressing the major national demand for integrated air and space network construction. The institute has pioneered new technological pathways in weak light reception and high-speed coherent communication, overcoming key challenges such as multi-mode compatible communication and long-distance deep space optical transmission.
The institute has undertaken numerous national projects, producing over a hundred types of spaceborne laser communication terminals, some of which are already operational in orbit. These self-developed terminals enable rapid laser alignment and stable communication between satellites, supporting massive cross-satellite data interchange.
Collaborative Efforts to Scale Scientific Achievements
Through "industry-academia-research" collaboration, the institute and its partners have effectively transitioned scientific achievements from the laboratory to large-scale production. Hao Wei, Party secretary and deputy director of the XIOPM, emphasized the institute's commitment to leading technological innovation and meeting national strategic needs in satellite internet construction.
Zeng Weigang, Zhongke TianTa's general manager, detailed the construction of the production line, which occupies 2,000 square meters in the Xi'an High-tech Zone. The digital intelligent production line covers all production processes, from component assembly to automated testing. The first phase of the production line can produce 600 laser communication terminals annually, with plans to increase capacity to over 1,000 units per year by 2027.
