China's first national-level automotive chip standard verification platform began operation in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, on Tuesday, marking a key step toward building a unified verification system for vehicle-grade chips in the country.

The platform features 13 specialized laboratories and is equipped with more than 80 sets of testing devices capable of conducting over 30 types of automotive chip standard verification tests, according to the Shenzhen-based auto chip unit under the China Automotive Technology and Research Center, the platform's operator.

In addition, the platform covers nine major categories and 81 subcategories of automotive chips, ranging from intelligent driving and in-vehicle infotainment chips to safety and power semiconductors, providing public testing services for various application scenarios, said Xia Xianzhao, chief expert at CATARC.

The one-stop layout is designed to address the fragmented verification resources for automotive-grade chips, improving efficiency, reducing chipmakers' reliance on external testing institutions, and significantly shortening the overall verification cycle, Xia added.
