The country's first photochromic energy-saving glass product, which has been used in post-disaster reconstruction in Dingri county of the Xizang autonomous region, recently made a stunning debut at the 25th China International Industry Fair, Xizang TV reported.

The fair kicked off in Shanghai on Tuesday.

The "next-generation green energy-saving photochromic glass" developed by a team led by Zhu Weihong, an academician at the East China University of Science and Technology, has been proven to be more cost-effective than similar foreign products, offering a new option for green energy-saving building materials.

This innovative glass, which requires no power source and can automatically adjust its brightness while blocking over 99 percent of ultraviolet rays, aims to address the issues of high energy consumption, strong glare, and poor thermal comfort associated with traditional glass buildings.

The glass has already been used in the post-disaster reconstruction of Sengkar village in Dingri county of the Xizang autonomous region, where it withstood tests of strong ultraviolet radiation, permafrost, wind and sand, and temperature differences between day and night, helping residents improve their life comfort with strong durability.
