China seen steady rebound of rare wild species

More than 200 endangered wildlife populations enter a restorative growth phase. Over 100 threatened plant species have received emergency protection.

Behind the numbers: China has built a national park system as the backbone of biodiversity protection, placed over 80 percent of key terrestrial wildlife under protected status, and established dedicated conservation centers for flagship species — from giant pandas to gibbons, crested ibises to pangolins.
