Time Travel Through Dehua Street delves deep into the history of Henan merchants and presents it through an artistic lens, bringing Central Plains culture vividly to life in cultural tourism performances.

The play takes as its creative prototype the Japanese army’s massive bombing of Zhengzhou on the Lantern Festival in 1938. Centered on the stories of the people of Henan — who embody the virtues of “honoring morality, valuing righteousness, pursuing goodness, and upholding propriety” — it weaves true historical events with modern artistic expressions of sound, light, and multimedia effects. The production brings to life a host of vivid, flesh-and-blood characters, including a guild president known for his generosity and patriotic spirit, a celebrated opera performer of kindness and steadfast virtue, and soldiers who defend their homeland with fearless resolve in the face of death.

From the moment the audience enters, they are immersed in an interactive journey back to Zhengzhou in 1938. Stage design, sound, lighting and atmospheric effects blend seamlessly to create scenes that resonate emotionally, conveying the theme of “cultivating people with virtue” while offering a rich sensory and aesthetic experience.
