More than 40 couples in cross-Strait marriages recently embarked on a four-day tea culture tour in Fujian province to explore the shared tea heritage on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

The couples visited tea factories and cultural sites in Quanzhou and Fuzhou, where they learned about tea-making techniques distinct from those in Taiwan. They also immersed themselves in local traditions and toured historic architecture.

Su Yu-huang, a participant from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, said he was astonished by the diversity of tea varieties in Fujian. The trip, he added, has greatly enhanced his understanding of Fujian's tea industry and will benefit his future research in related fields.

Li Shang-ru, originally from Nantou, Taiwan, whose wife is from Fujian, shared his experience of settling in Fuzhou. "We found love through tea, and after rooting ourselves in this blessed city, we welcomed the birth of our child," he said. Li noted the opportunities and support provided to Taiwan compatriots in Fujian, which he said foster a strong sense of belonging.

The cultural exchange was jointly organized by provincial and municipal Taiwan compatriot associations in Fujian to strengthen emotional ties and cooperation across the Strait.
