The live show Qu Yuan draws its core inspiration from the great poetic works Li Sao (The Lament), Jiu Ge (Nine Songs) and Tian Wen (Heavenly Questions), written by Qu Yuan (342-278 BC) — a towering figure of traditional Chinese culture. Using the poet’s dramatic life experiences as the narrative thread, the production integrates world-class entertainment technology, seamlessly combining high-tech staging with live performance. It presents the enchanting charm of Chu culture in an all-round way, standing as a model for the integration of culture and tourism in China.
Through this production, the creators pay tribute to Qu Yuan via the language of stage art, fostering patriotism, and ensuring that his immortal verses continue to resonate with audiences.
Since the opening of Jingzhou Fantawild Oriental Heritage in September 2019, Qu Yuan has become one of the park’s signature shows, consistently enjoying high popularity and acclaim. It also won the 2020 Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement from the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), as well as the 2022 Best Theme Park Live Performance Award.
