Step into the elegance of court lady paintings in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) with Song of Midnight, a silk painting by Gai Qi (1773-1828).
In this work, a lady holds a xiao flute (a vertical end-blown flute), her figure gracefully poised, her appearance beautiful. Every brushstroke is light and smooth, every color delicate and refined — hallmarks of Gai Qi's style. Today, this treasure resides in the collection of the Shanxi Museum.
