This red pottery basin from the Neolithic period features a rounded lip, curved shoulders and a slanted body tapering into a flat base. After burnishing, it was painted with brown designs. The upper part is decorated with intricate geometric motifs – dots, triangles and bands – creating a striking visual effect. This piece is now in the collection of the Taiyuan Museum in Shanxi province. Beyond its beauty, what do you think it was used for millennia ago?
