The Qiongju Opera Huang Daopo was premiered in Haikou, capital city of Hainan province, on Monday. This captivating performance, based on the life of Huang Daopo (1245-1330), a prominent figure in the early Chinese textile industry, vividly showcases her inspiring journey and enduring spirit through the unique art of Qiongju Opera.
The Qiongju Opera features local dialect as well as folk musical and dancing elements of Hainan. It was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008.
