Shaanxi province in Northwest China is one of the major places of origin for ancient Chinese civilization. Since the 11th century BC, 15 dynasties and states throughout Chinese history have established their capitals in the province.
It has been an important gateway to China since ancient times. As early as the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24), trade routes were opened between the East and West.
It also enjoys a rich heritage with numerous cultural sites and millions of relics stored at its museums. As the China-Central Asia Summit is on its way, let's take a look at the nine UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites in Shaanxi.
