The renowned Tangju Opera production The Shadow Puppets was staged at the Tangshan city, North China’s Hebei province. It tells the unfortunate life stories of shadow puppet artists in the 1910s. It won the Wenhua Award in 2004, a top national accolade for the performing arts.
Originally from Tangshan city, the Tangju Opera debuted in public in 1960. It has since inspired other local shadow puppet drama and folk dances.
