Yan'an is a holy place for the Chinese revolution. It became a center for intensive training of Party members and army troops during the Chinese Communist revolution from late 1935 to early 1947. The Party Central Committee and the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries fought for13 years in Yan'an and led the Chinese people to great victories in the War of Resistance against Japan and the War of Liberation.
The Yan'an Revolutionary Memorial Museum was built to celebrate the great achievements of the Communist Party of China Central Committee in leading the Chinese revolution in Yan'an and northern Shaanxi. It currently has more than 35,000 cultural relics, more than 10,000 historical photographs, more than 13,000 books, and more than 100 volumes of reference material.
The newly built Yan’an Revolutionary Memorial Museum has a local cave architectural style and is divided into a square and a memorial hall. A 16-meterhigh bronze statue of Chairman Mao stands in the 38,000-square-meter square to honor the great leader. The memorial hall displays over 2,100 cultural relics and more than 1,000 historical photos of the great practices and theoretical designs of the Party Central Committee and the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries during the Yan'an period.
The museum also uses advanced technology to simulate landscapes according to the needs of the exhibition in order to provide visitors with a better experience.
