How did China's cultural treasures survive the upheaval of war?
Guardians of Civilization: Commemorating the Southward Evacuation of the Palace Museum's Treasures recently opened at Sichuan University Museum in Chengdu, Sichuan province. Featuring 100 archival materials, 80 artifacts and a set of sculptures, the exhibition retraces the Palace Museum's wartime relocation and highlights the efforts of museum staff and local communities to safeguard China's cultural heritage during the 1930s.
