Shanxi province recorded a robust consumer market during the Spring Festival holiday, with offline consumption reaching 22.88 billion yuan ($3.34 billion), marking a 5.86 percent year-on-year increase.
This surge in consumer activity was strongly supported by targeted policies. Various measures were introduced across the province to stimulate consumption, ensuring that policy benefits directly reached both the market and the public.
In the major consumer goods sector, Shanxi has optimized its trade-in policy. During the holiday period, 115 million yuan in subsidies for trade-ins were allocated, a 25 percent increase that helped generate 1.32 billion yuan in consumption, up 147 percent.
The province ensured an ample supply of essential goods with stable prices and high quality. Through joint efforts between the government and enterprises, discounts and promotions were introduced, enabling consumers to enjoy tangible benefits.
Unique consumer experiences across Shanxi further boosted holiday spending. For instance, Jincheng hosted a Chinese New Year Fair and Online Shopping Festival, featuring 40 distinctive promotional events, creating a one-stop shopping, dining, and entertainment experience.
Throughout the holiday, the integration of culture, tourism, and consumption emerged as a key highlight. Traditional performances, cultural activities, and immersive experiences significantly boosted service consumption, particularly in accommodation and dining.
Shanxi plans to further explore consumption potential, innovate consumer experiences, and sustain market momentum, providing continuous consumer-driven momentum for the province's high-quality economic development.
