As the Spring Festival approaches, Xi'an's cultural and tourism market continues to heat up. With Tang Dynasty (618–907) poetry performances, Spring Festival lantern shows, and tech-based immersive experiences, the city is offering residents and visitors a unique Spring Festival experience that blends traditional charm with modern creativity.
Grand Tang Mall
Starting Feb 10, the Grand Tang Mall has extended its performance hours into the afternoon, introducing five new Tang poetry-themed shows. This breaks the boundaries of evening-only performances, offering an all-day immersive Tang-style experience.
During the Spring Festival holiday, Gran Tang Mall will also roll out surprise events such as robot shows and flash mob dances. With high-quality performances running non-stop from day to night, the entire area will be immersed in a lively, festive new year atmosphere.
Tang Paradise
The 2026 Chang'an Lantern Festival at Tang Paradise has kicked off. This year's festival features 39 large‑scale lantern displays that blend Year of the Horse elements with Tang poetry artistry. More than 300 classic poems are incorporated into lanterns and scenes, transforming light and shadow into a poetic landscape.
Wang Qing, a park representative, said, "We have integrated Tang poems into every aspect of the event, including lantern designs, boat parades, and interactive activities, allowing visitors to experience the charm of Tang culture while enjoying the lanterns."
Qujiang Flying Theater
As the world's first Tang poetry-themed theater, Qujiang Flying Theater fuses culture with technology and has become a popular destination for family trips and Tang poetry experiences during the Spring Festival. Chen Xiuling, the theater's general manager, said, "We hope to offer audiences a brand-new perspective of the glorious Tang Dynasty cultural tourism experience through a 10-meter height, a 20-meter dome screen, and cutting-edge flight technology."
Since opening, the theater has received over 50,000 visits. It can host up to 6,000 people per day and has added new festive scenes for the Spring Festival, includingcaishen(the god of wealth) interactions and a gold tree, making it a new landmark that integrates technology and culture in Xi'an.
From immersive performances to lantern shows and high-tech flying tours, Xi'an's cultural and tourism landmarks interpret the rich cultural heritage of the "City of Tang Poetry" through innovative ways, adding poetic charm and a festive atmosphere to the city.
