Paintings celebrate Hangzhou's artistic spirit

The spectacular views of the Qiantang River tidal bore draw waves of watchers every year to the scene in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. The river waves are not only a natural phenomenon but also have cultural connotations of courage and innovation.

Since ancient times, that symbolism has been celebrated in the works of artists in Hangzhou and Zhejiang, and at a current exhibition of paintings by 10 members of the Hangzhou Academy of Painting.

Held at the gallery of China Art News, it draws on the historic depth and cultural accumulations of Hangzhou and Zhejiang, a prosperous economic and cultural hub since ancient times. The works integrate poetic feeling with the brushstrokes and reflect the vitality of life.
