This scroll of calligraphy features a poem by Wang Xuan, whose courtesy name is Jinglu, written in seal script by Chang Zanchun (1872-1941) – a master calligrapher and seal carver of Shanxi in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
Known for his earnest study of classics, history, literature and epigraphy, Chang's seal script stands out for its balanced structure, elegant smoothness and dignified simplicity – a true reflection of his scholarly spirit.
Now housed in the Shanxi Museum, this piece continues to tell stories of ink, paper and devotion to art.
