Opening ceremony for Hainan Island Carnival lights up Haikou

The opening ceremony of the 2025 Hainan Island Carnival took place on Saturday evening at Haikou's Funbay waterfront area. This year's carnival intends to blend technology and culture into a month-long, island-wide summer extravaganza.
Saturday's ceremony opened with a French soprano singer, dubbed the "Floating Diva", performing atop the water in a luminous, umbrella-shaped gown, her operatic melodies echoing across the bay. Above, drone light formations painted the night sky with dynamic patterns, while parades with a "Happy Sea Walk" theme brought vibrant energy to the streets.
