The Makou kiln, originating in Xiaogan, Hubei, began production during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and became one of the most influential folk kilns in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.
Now a new exhibition on view at Fujian Folk Museum turns the spotlight onto Makou pottery—exploring its history, firing techniques, decorative motifs, and craftsmanship. Check out the timeless ceramics that once filled homes and markets.
