Xi'an's food events boosts cultural exchange

A food activity mixed with Chinese and western flavor kicked off on May 30 in Xi'an, Shaanxi province. The event was aimed to offer consumers a Dragon Boat Festival shopping extravaganza that combines a feast of flavors, cultural exchange, and leisure entertainment.

Xi'an is famous for its wide variety of buns and breads, which play an important role in the daily lives of local residents. The event set up a banquet showcasing both Eastern and Western cuisines alongside an international cultural tasting experience. Local food brands highlighted the essence of Chinese culinary traditions, while international offerings focused on the industrial aesthetics of Western fast food.

In addition, Camel Bell Castle—a restaurant blending Chinese and Western culinary cultures—offered a contemporary interpretation of Silk Road cuisine.

The event also featured a "PK" (competition) segment between foreign chefs and Chinese inheritors of intangible cultural heritage cuisine, inviting international students to learn cooking techniques. This attracted tourists and consumers from home and abroad, inspiring them to unleash their creativity and innovate by crafting their own unique dishes.

At the same time, the event featured an experience area showcasing more than 40 intangible cultural heritage foods, local cultural and creative products, and local specialty snacks, as well as brands offering bread, coffee, and tea beverages—catering to the diverse tastes of consumers.
