Tianxiang Garden Tourism and Culture Festival
Location: Nanchang city
Frequency: Annual
Dates: Between September and October
The Tianxiang Garden Tourism and Culture Festival, an annual event and a cornerstone of Nanchang's cultural calendar, takes place in the city’s Qingshanhu district between September and October each year.
First launched in 2006, Tianxiang Garden is renowned as the largest urban migratory bird scenic spot in China, earning the charming title of "the haven for birds, the paradise for people, and the realm of beauty". This unique natural treasure lies at the heart of the festival, attracting both residents and tourists. Home to over 60,000 birds across 32 rare species—with the count sometimes reaching as high as 100,000—it is a phenomenon rarely seen in urban areas worldwide. The egret population is particularly notable, earning the site the UNESCO designation of "Egret Kingdom".
The Tianxiang Garden Tourism and Culture Festival plays a pivotal role in promoting Nanchang's tourism and cultural industries, showcasing the region's unique natural and cultural heritage.
