A well-known Kunqu Opera, The Palace of Eternal Youth is closely related to the Mid-Autumn Festival. It tells a love story of Emperor Xuanzong and his concubine Yang Yuhuan in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). At the end of the story, the Emperor dies on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and his spirit flies to the Moon Palace to meet Yang Yuhuan, which also reflects the theme of the Mid-Autumn Festival - "reunion". These theatrical works have been a must-see during the festival since ancient times.
