April 18 marked Pudong's 33rd birthday. The State Council officially announced the establishment of Pudong on April 18, 1990 and three national-level development zones - Lujiazui, Waigaoqiao, and Jinqiao - were also established the same year. Since then, Pudong has transformed from a small district to a pioneering one. Over the past 33 years, Pudong has transformed from an agricultural area into a modern new business metropolis with global businesses, international resources, and cutting-edge facilities.
