A Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) painting by Zhang Lu (ca. 1464-1538) depicts a wintry scene in which an eagle hovering in the wind is hunting a hare fleeing towards wind-blown reeds.
The skillful strokes portray the animals’ different expressions against a backdrop of snow.
It is a painting from the collection of the Nanjing Museum.
