A two-day online training session on injury prevention and control concluded on Oct 28, which was organized by the National Center for Chronic and Non-communicable Disease Control and Prevention (NCNCD) of the China CDC.

Yan Ping, director of the School Health Division at the Department of Health and Immunization Planning of the National Administration of Disease Prevention and Control, and Guo Haoyan, deputy secretary of NCNCD of China CDC, attended the opening ceremony.

Yan summarized the progress made by China's healthcare system in injury prevention and control, and proposed that policy support needs to be enhanced, system and mechanism be improved, steady financial support be maintained, and cross-department collaboration be promoted to prevent any potential injury. Training sessions should be held on a regular basis and injury prevention should be carried out based on evidence, she added.

At the session, experts from the injury prevention and control division of NCNCD provided special training on the progress of global injury prevention and control, the national injury monitoring project, and on injury prevention and control among children and the elderly.

They also gave lectures on road traffic injuries involving the elderly and child passengers, elderly-friendly environment transformation, theoretical models of behavioral intervention in elderly fall prevention, and on animal injury prevention and control.
