To mark the 120th birthday of Ma Lianliang (1901-66), Peking Opera maestro and founder of the Ma school of Peking Opera, the Jingju Theater Company of Beijing held themed shows at the Chang’an Grand Theater from Sept 11 to 13. The performances brought three of Ma’s representative works to the stage, all starring Zhang Kai, the successor of the Ma school.
