Based on the plot of the Journey to the West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels, the Peking Opera piece The True Monkey Kingwas staged at the Phoenix Theater at Fuzhou, Fujian province on July 23. A representative work of the Fujian Peking Opera Troupe, this version was performed by the young artists of the troupe after its debut in 1979.
