Have you ever read the novel Shunkinsho by renowned Japanese novelist Tanizaki (1886-1965)? Here comes a Yueju Opera version of the story by the Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yueju Opera Troupe that will be restaged at the Butterfly Theater in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on Oct 2.
Debuting in 2005, the work adopts the artistic expressions of Yueju Opera to depict the lifelong love affair of a blind aristocratic musician and her retainer.
