Founded on March 15, 1905, Gaozhou No 2 Middle School was initially named "Maoming School". In 1913, the school was renamed as "Maoming Middle School". It was one of the earliest schools established in Gaozhou under the background of "abolishing the imperial examination system and establishing new-style schools". In April 1996, it was rated as a first-class school in Guangdong Province.
