Opened in 1937, the Chang'an Grand Theater is a time-honored theatrical venue. Its original site was in the bustling Xidan commercial area. Having relocated to the Guanghua Chang'an Tower on the north side of East Chang'an Avenue, the new theater was inaugurated in September 1996.
The interior decor bears the traditional style of China's Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911). The Chang'an Grand Theater puts on classic repertoires, a highlight among which is Peking Opera.
