National dance drama Zhaojun is staged at the Wulanqiate Grand Theater in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on the evening of July 12. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

Performed by the Hohhot National Performing Arts Group, the drama explored Wang Zhaojun’s legendary life volunteering to marry the leader of the Huns, a powerful tribal nomadic group on the then-border of Northern China.
