Solar power project boosts economy in rural Shanxi

Solar panels dot the hillsides surrounding Shijiazhuang village, Yanquan county, in Shanxi province, on March 16. To help alleviate local poverty, a 20 megawatt photovoltaic power station has been established in the village. Locals are also able to use the electricity produced by solar panels installed on the roofs of their homes. Excess power can be sold back to China's national grid. [Photo/Shanxi Daily]
