Plenty of local contestants attended a youmian (hulless oat flour) culinary challenge with an assortment of cooking methods, in Wuchuan county, Hohhot on Aug 16.
Youmian (hulless oat flour), a Hohhot speciality, can be cooked using more than 40 methods including steaming, frying, baking, boiling, and stir-frying.
Steaming is the most common way of cooking raw oat flour foods, making delicacies such as rolls, pancakes, dumplings and pastries.
