What was life really like for women in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279)?
Opened on Oct 1 at Fujian Museum, the exhibition Huang Sheng and Her Era brings visitors into the world of Huang Sheng, a young woman from an elite scholar-official family in the Southern Song Dynasty.
Through artifacts unearthed from her tomb in Fuzhou, Fujian province, and other archaeological discoveries, discover her life and upbringing, explore the prosperity and cultural vitality of southeastern China, and uncover the complex reality of women living between Confucian social expectations and the vibrancy of everyday life.
