Huangshan Tunxi Internationall Airport is continuing to expand its international flight network, according to an announcement by airport authorities on Oct 15.

The airport is making inbound tourism more convenient. It has deepened cooperation with overseas tour operators, charter providers and airlines, aiming to resume and expand international and regional air routes and make cross-border travel more hassle-free. To date, the Huangshan airport has served 31,000 international inbound and outbound passengers.

Multiple routes and temporary charters will launch in the fourth quarter. The Kuala Lumpur-Huangshan route resumes with flights every Saturday. Temporary charter flights connecting Huangshan with Seoul and Busan are back with two weekly services. VietJet Air will launch a regular Bangkok-Huangshan route on Nov 27, offering three weekly flights.

In the upcoming winter-spring flight season, international and regional routes will make up 30 percent of all routes. That represents a 15 percent rise year-on-year. More flights will drive passenger growth, with the port's annual inbound and outbound passenger traffic expected to exceed last year's 56,000.

Airport marketing officials recently shared the development blueprint for 2027. The airport will consolidate existing routes to Hong Kong, Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia, while opening or resuming flights to Penang and Johor Bahru in Malaysia, Irkutsk in Russia and Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia. The upgraded route network and stronger port capacity will support Huangshan's opening-up and high-quality development.
