Shandong natives around the world marked the Mid-Autumn Festival online on Sept 23, joining a Yantai-hosted event that connected more than 120 guests on site with communities spread across five continents.

A letter from overseas Shandong natives, a poetry recitation and the premiere of an aerial short film brought the province's landscapes and development to the screen. Alongside the film, a showcase of Shandong provincial specialties — Rizhao green tea, Liaocheng smoked chicken, Tsingtao beer and Changyu wine — brought a taste of home to the screen.

Yantai also invited station chiefs worldwide to a "Tipsy Yantai" wine-tasting tour, welcoming them home this autumn.

The evening saw the unveiling of the Ocean Peripheral Communication Research Institute, jointly built by the Yantai International Communication Center, Peking University's Research Center for Peripheral Communication, and the Yantai Marine Development and Fisheries Bureau.

The Global Shandong Hometown Station network now spans 60 countries and regions, with more than 160 station chiefs. It expanded into Latin America this year with new stations in Chile and Mexico.

In Queensland, Australia, attendees at a Mid-Autumn Festival carnival joined by video link, while a giant online group photo brought together selfies from Shandong natives worldwide.

One moon over Shandong, one heart across the seas.
