Jinan, Daejeon mark 15 years of friendship with youth Go match

A cross-border Go match has brought young people from Jinan and Daejeon, South Korea, together as the two cities mark 15 years of friendship.

The first online youth Go tournament between the two cities was held on Sept 19, with 30 students from primary and secondary schools in Jinan and Daejeon taking part in two rounds of competition.

Go is a traditional board game known for its emphasis on strategy and patience. The event gave participants the chance to build friendships while improving their skills.

As part of a series of people-to-people exchanges between Jinan and South Korea, the event was jointly organized by the Office of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Jinan Municipal Committee and the Daejeon Support Center for Foreign Residents, with support from the Go associations of the two cities.

Moving forward, Jinan plans to develop more events that encourage interaction and mutual understanding with its South Korean partner cities.
