Qilu Software Park in Jinan has been selected as one of the first batch of sites to develop national demonstration bases for emerging industries. It is the only park in Shandong province included in the first batch.

The selection is part of an initiative by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to foster the development of emerging industries such as software and artificial intelligence (AI). The selected sites are industrial clusters with strong innovation and supportive business ecosystems. Over a two-year development period, they will be cultivated as replicable models for emerging-industry growth.

Established in 1995, Qilu Software Park is one of China's oldest software industry parks and a major hub for Jinan's software industry. It now hosts more than 1,000 high-end software companies and over 200,000 software professionals. More than 7,800 new market entities have been established in the park this year, with growth concentrated in industrial software, AI, and integrated circuits.

The park is also a major base for AI innovation, with 13 of the 25 large AI models registered in Jinan based in the area.

It has developed a comprehensive support system for technology businesses, covering incubation, business growth, computing resources, technology testing, and commercialization. The system helps startups and small software companies reduce development costs and bring innovations to market more efficiently.
