Participants in the Global Civilization Dialogues Rendezvous with the Orchid (Xi'an Stop) experienced the momentum of green technology development during their visit to LONGi Green Energy Technology Co on Sept 10.
At LONGi's smart energy exhibition hall, guides briefed guests on the company's history, from its inception to its global expansion. The company has built diversified business segments, including monocrystalline silicon wafers, solar cell modules, and green hydrogen equipment, and has advanced "photovoltaics (PV)+" applications such as PV sand control and building-integrated PV. With a business footprint in more than 160 countries and regions worldwide, LONGi has rolled out PV solutions across multiple Asian and African nations, helping address power shortages and tackle climate change.
The guests also discussed PV technology costs, overseas deployment models, and green energy cooperation with staff members.
Alex Lamb, assistant professor at Tsinghua University's College of AI, said that solar technology offers a practical solution for many developing countries with unstable energy supplies. Installing PV panels in desert regions not only generates electricity but also curbs desertification and improves surface vegetation. He expressed confidence that LONGi will enjoy broader prospects in the future.
After four days in Xi'an, the delegates shared their insights and reflections.
"What I have seen in Xi'an is far more impressive than what books and films show," said Hashem Mohammadi, an Afghan blogger. "Xi'an has left me with wonderful memories thanks to its diverse delicacies and warm-hearted locals. I was amazed by the cultural relic restoration and conservation work of the Terracotta Warriors. This trip has been incredibly rewarding."
Devinder Kumar, an Indian expert at China International Communications Group, said, "This is my second visit to Xi'an. Famous for its ancient Silk Road civilization, the city has now grown into a tech hub, home to a host of enterprises." He shared that his visit to LONGi Green Energy was a pleasant experience, noting that the company has made important contributions to global renewable energy development.
The delegates said they will share the insights and experiences they gained from this trip with overseas friends, helping more people learn about Xi'an's development story.
