The 2026 Xi'an Visit for Spouses of Foreign Ambassadors kicked off on Sept 7, inviting families of ambassadors to China from multiple countries, including Turkmenistan, Yemen, and Senegal, to take part in a five-day journey exploring the ancient capital's ecological civilization and historic culture.
A representative of the Xi'an People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries said at the launch ceremony that Xi'an marks the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and a key city under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). They hope the event will create an opportunity to expand cooperation with countries involved in the BRI.
After inviting 50 spouses of foreign ambassadors to experience the city's development over the past four sessions, this year's event focuses on building an exchange and docking platform covering ecological protection, characteristic agriculture, integrated culture and tourism, and women's development.
Bahar Durdyyeva, spouse of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to China, spoke on behalf of all ambassador spouses, saying that Xi'an has made important contributions to exchanges between world civilizations and thriving trade. She looks forward to meeting more new friends through this event and gaining memorable experiences.
The delegation will venture deep into the heart of the Qinling Mountains to examine local practices for the coordinated development of ecological conservation and green industries. They will also visit the Grand Tang Mall and the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum to exchange with female entrepreneurs from Xi'an.
