The 12th Hubei Huangmei Opera Arts Festival opened in Huanggang, Hubei province, on Monday, celebrating one of China’s beloved traditional opera genres. Running through Sept 7, the 18-day festival features classic productions, immersive experiences and new works that blend traditional singing with contemporary expression. Bringing together established artists, young performers and regional opera traditions, the festival showcases how Huangmei Opera is evolving while preserving its rich cultural heritage.
