Vast stretches of purple verbena are in full bloom in Lyucongpo town of the Enshi Tujia and Miao autonomous prefecture, Hubei province, unfolding in tiered swathes along the mountain slopes.
With an altitude of 1,700 meters, the town boasts an average summer temperature of merely 20 C. Its pleasant climate draws throngs of visitors seeking escape from heat.
