Wuhan and Xi'an join hands on a Silk Road journey of culture and industry

On July 5, the 2026 "China Auto Valley: Poetry Along the Silk Road" campaign and the "Made in Wuhan Goes Global" roadshow made their stop in Xi'an.

A delegation of cultural scholars, media representatives and industry experts set off from Wuhan's Yellow Crane Tower on July 2 on a Silk Road journey inspired by Tang poetry. Xi'an is the second stop on the itinerary, which highlights industrial cooperation and culture-tourism integration. The delegation will next travel to Wuwei in Gansu province and Kashgar in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region before concluding the trip in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The event showcased Wuhan's latest advances in vehicle R&D and manufacturing. Officials said Xi'an, with its rich cultural heritage and vast market potential, provides an ideal platform to showcase "Made in Wuhan" products, deepen industrial cooperation between the two cities, and expand collaboration across their industrial and supply chains.
Zhang Xinping, a member of the delegation and head of Photo World magazine, said the journey will document the Silk Road through the lens of photography, capturing both its cultural legacy and the vitality of modern China. Beyond historic landmarks, the team will visit farms, factories and research institutes to showcase innovation in Chinese manufacturing and tell the story of Chinese brands expanding their global reach.
The event also encouraged closer two-way exchanges, inviting people from Xi'an to explore Wuhan's cultural heritage and innovation while promoting greater access for Xi'an's distinctive products and industries to the Wuhan market.
