Have you ever seen a water pot without a lid? This Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) purple-glazed pot, shaped like a peach, is actually a clever "reverse-flow pot". To fill it, you turn it upside down and pour water through a tiny hole at the bottom. Once upright again, the water pours smoothly from the spout!
The design cleverly applies the principle of communicating vessels, blending science with artistic craftsmanship centuries ago. Collection: Anhui Museum.
