China National Petroleum Corporation Shaanxi Branch For Natural Gas Sales launched a full-scale emergency drill at Xiliu Gate Station in Xi'an, Shaanxi province on June 17, targeting natural disaster-induced risks and sudden emergencies at urban gas stations. The event, held amid China's 25th National Work Safety Month, also marked its enterprise open day themed "Prioritizing Safety, Fueling a Brighter Future."

Simulating a gas leakage triggered by earthquakes, the drill was designed to comprehensively examine cross-department and government-enterprise emergency linkage capabilities, while raising natural gas safety awareness among the general public.

Shaanxi province has complicated geological environments and is prone to frequent natural disasters. Given the large number and wide distribution of urban gas pipelines and transmission stations across the province, earthquakes and other geological disasters may easily trigger pipeline ruptures, gas leakages and other major safety hazards. Such accidents will directly threaten the daily gas supply of thousands of households, as well as public life and property safety.

Aligning with the Work Safety Month slogan — "Everyone values work safety, everyone masters in emergency response: identify and eliminate potential safety hazards" — the drill was conducted in strict compliance with national safety laws, regulations and the company's special emergency response plans. It reproduced the whole emergency response plan after earthquake-related gas accidents, aiming to sharpen the professional capability of emergency teams and optimize the multi-party joint emergency response mechanism.

The drill covered every key link of emergency response, including hazard early warning, on-site risk inspection, hierarchical reporting, cross-regional multi-departmental joint response, emergency rescue operations, hidden danger elimination and full gas supply restoration.

After the emergency drill, the enterprise open day activity kicked off as scheduled. Participants visited the gas transmission and distribution station, touring the production process area, intelligent dispatching platform and emergency equipment exhibition area. The organizers also shared practical household gas safety tips and self-rescue skills for gas leakage emergencies.
