​International delegation visits Xi'an

Eighteen officials and scholars from countries including Mongolia, South Korea, and Russia visited Xi'an from June 3 to 6 for the Boao Forum for Asia's 2026 International Young Leaders Program (IYLP), where they explored China's approaches to green development.

The delegates visited the domestic waste harmless treatment and cogeneration project in Baqiao district to observe the waste incineration process, where the tidy roads, modern workshops, and fresh air completely changed their perceptions of waste treatment facilities, saying that it felt like "a quiet high-tech factory".

This plant is Xi'an's largest green project for the treatment of harmless waste in terms of scale, daily processing capacity, and total investment. Equipped with advanced equipment and incineration technologies, it is designed to handle approximately 1 million metric tons of domestic waste and generate 425.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.

The delegation also visited the operation and maintenance center of the Qinling mountains ecological environment supervision platform and Xi'an Metro Line 8. From ecological conservation to green transportation, they gained comprehensive insight into Xi'an's efforts to advance green and low-carbon transitions.
