Amidst a stretch of high temperatures, wild Asian elephants have been making regular trips to the Nanla River to cool off and forage in Mengla county of Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province.

As local temperatures rise above 30 degrees Celsius, wild Asian elephants have been extending their activity range to include shaded areas like rivers, shallows, and nearby forests and farmland. This has resulted in more frequent encounters with local residents.
