In the fields of Gongyi, Henan province, a group of silent guardians has watched over the land for more than 1,000 years.

These are the stone statues lining the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) imperial mausoleums – ornamental columns, animals, civil officials, military generals, and foreign envoys. Together, they form an open-air museum of stone carving, where centuries-old artistry blends seamlessly into the rural landscape.
