Taicang presented its industrial strengths and international appeal at the Asia-Pacific Business Partnership Dialogue and the 2026 Suzhou Global Investment Promotion Conference held on May 21, leading a delegation of more than 60 representatives from Fortune Global 500 companies, top industry enterprises, foreign business associations, and other organizations.
At the event, Taicang highlighted its strong industrial foundation, deep-rooted German connections, and business-friendly environment, extending an invitation to global investors and partners.
During a dialogue session, Jorge Casimiro, vice-president and chief government and public affairs & public policy officer at Nike, said the company's operating efficiency had increased fivefold since establishing its China Logistics Center in Taicang in 2010, with annual cargo handling capacity now exceeding 180 million items.
He attributed the achievements to Suzhou and Taicang's long-term commitment to opening-up policies and efficient professional support services.
Michael Kern, representative of the China office of the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce, praised Taicang's efforts to build its reputation as a home to German enterprises. He said that Taicang, as China's largest German vocational qualification examination base, has introduced Germany's dual vocational education model and trained more than 10,000 skilled workers, providing strong talent support for China-Germany industrial cooperation.
